Summary

  • mise 2026.10.5 changed the default vendor for a bare java version from OpenJDK to Temurin (release notes). Our mise.lock records OpenJDK with shorthand_vendor = "openjdk", so mise install --locked fails with mise 2026.10.5 or later:
mise ERROR Failed to install core:java@latest: java@latest is not in the lockfile

  • This breaks the "Deploy to GitHub Pages" job, which installs the newest mise because the workflow does not pin a mise version. It also breaks the mise install --locked enter hook for developers on a current mise.
  • This PR keeps java = "latest" and runs mise lock --bump java. The lock moves from OpenJDK 26.0.1 to Temurin 27.0.0+35.
  • Temurin publishes no macOS x64 build of Java 27, and the bump fails while the lock covers that platform. So mise.toml now sets lockfile_platforms to the platforms the lock already covered, without macos-x64. Developers on Intel Macs get no locked Java.

Only the Java lock entries change. hugo, lychee and maven keep their current entries.

CI does not use mise's Java. Tests, checkstyle and api-compat use actions/setup-java.

Verification

  • Generated with mise 2026.10.10.
  • Checked mise install --locked with mise 2026.10.9 (the version CI selects now) and 2026.10.10.
  • Did a real mise install --locked java on linux-x64, and ran java -version.
  • Compared all 6 new Java checksums with Adoptium's published .sha256.txt files. All match.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Chores
    • Updated supported lockfile platforms to Linux arm64/x64 (including musl), macOS arm64, and Windows x64. macOS x64 is no longer included.

mise 2026.10.5 changed the default vendor for a bare `java` version from
OpenJDK to Temurin. Our lock records OpenJDK with
`shorthand_vendor = "openjdk"`, so with mise 2026.10.5 or later,
`mise install --locked` fails with "java@latest is not in the
lockfile". This breaks the Pages workflow and the mise enter hook.

Run `mise lock --bump java` to lock `java = "latest"` to Temurin. This
moves the locked version from OpenJDK 26.0.1 to Temurin 27.0.0+35.

Temurin publishes no macOS x64 build of Java 27, and the bump fails
while the lock covers that platform. Set `lockfile_platforms` to the
platforms the lock already covered, without macos-x64. The other tools
keep their existing lock entries.

🩺 Stability & Availability | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win

Provide an Intel Mac lock entry or handle both hooks explicitly.

On an Intel Mac, mise install --quiet --locked fails when mise.lock has no macos-x64 Java entry. The enter hook and the file-watcher hook both run this command, so neither path falls back to an unlocked install. A compatible macos-x64 lock entry fixes both paths. If no supported Java distribution can provide that entry, both hooks must explicitly handle macos-x64.
