createAttribute() filters a key like demo.column to the column democolumn, but buildDocumentRow() (batch createDocuments) and executeUpsertBatch() kept the raw key. The query builder quotes a dotted identifier as "demo"."column", so every insert or upsert into a dotted attribute failed with an undefined column. Appwrite surfaces this as "The schema changed while this request was running" on row create.

Filters row keys, spatial columns and operator keys in both batch paths, matching the single-document paths.

Tested: new testDottedAttributeKeysInBatchWrites fails on main with column "dots" ... does not exist and passes with the fix; Postgres suite filtered to Dotted|Upsert|CreateDocuments|Spatial|Operator passes (178 tests).

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Bug Fixes
    • Batch writes and upserts now handle dotted attribute names consistently, so searches can return the correct documents after existing records are updated and new records are added.

createAttribute stores a key like demo.column as the column democolumn, but
the batch insert and upsert rows kept the raw key, which the builder quoted
as "demo"."column" and the database rejected as an unknown column.

📝 Walkthrough

The SQL adapter now filters column names in spatial insert expressions, document rows, and batch upserts. A new end-to-end test checks batch writes with dotted attribute keys.

Batch writes can silently lose a submitted value when a collection has colliding dotted and plain attribute names. This is a narrow case, but the collision should be rejected before merging to prevent data loss.

Reject filtered-column collisions before batch writes.

Sequential createAttribute() calls can retain both dots.name and dotsname in collection metadata. SQL maps both keys to dotsname, while batch validation accepts both raw keys.

buildDocumentRow() overwrites the first value after filtering. executeUpsertBatch() has the same overwrite for regular attributes, and its filtered array_combine() discards one of two colliding operators.

Add one shared normalization check for regular, spatial, and operator columns. Reject the batch when two raw keys map to the same filtered column. Do not let the last assignment win.
