Summary
SocatContainerdefaults to an image tag written in core's source, which Dependabot does not see. It was stillalpine/socat:1.7.4.3-r0; the latest tag isalpine/socat:1.8.1.3(pushed 2026-10-10, amd64 and arm64).Follows #1600, which did the same for the two images hardcoded in module source. Core's other built-in images,
testcontainers/ryuk:0.14.0andtestcontainers/sshd:1.4.0, are already on their latest tags.Verification
Local, macOS arm64, Docker Desktop:
npx vitest run packages/testcontainers/src/socat: 2 passed with the new image (forwarding on the same port and on a different port).npm run format, npm run lint, npm run knip, npm run check-compiles: clean.SocatContainer, and the docs section about it names no tag.Left to CI: Podman, Node 22 and 24, linux/amd64. This touches
packages/testcontainers, so CI runs every module. Not breaking
The constructor still takes an image, so
new SocatContainer("alpine/socat:1.7.4.3-r0")keeps the old one. The container is started the same way (socat TCP-LISTEN:<port>,fork,reuseaddr TCP:<target>), and only the default image users pull changes.
