What was changed
Required PR Checksjob to ci.yml. It runs after the jobs that are required to merge today and fails if any of them failed or was cancelled.Why?
Branch protection lists 11 required checks by exact name, including one per Python version and OS. Any matrix change also needs a branch protection change made at the same moment, or PRs get stuck waiting on checks that no longer run. With one roll-up job, matrix changes only touch this repo. Branch protection will be switched to require only
