"Set as tracking branch" checked by default every time

In some of my repos, I have some alternate remotes set up; my default is github, but I also have gitlab and my NAS under my desk. Starting with v2026.20, every time I push to one of these other remotes, the "Set as tracking branch" is checked by default, which I didn't notice for a few days, so every time I push to them, the tracking branch keeps getting changed.

I went back to 2026.19 to check that I wasn't misremembering it, and that one is NOT checked by default.

Is that a bug or am I missing something?

All my remote names are lower cased, but I grabbed the win-x64 download from feature: add total added/removed line counts to changes views (product version 2026.20+5d3f7728c72840f1c4a206c03f048b3ebb2fbc6e, if that matters); it's still behaving the same.

The Set as tracking branch is only visible when all the follow conditions are matched

• The selected remote is added to your remote list (not a temp one from branch.<name>.pushRemote)
• The selected remote branch is valid
• The selected remote branch is a new branch or it is different with current local branch's upstream

Sorry, I think I misunderstood you earlier. What you mean is that you want the default state of the Set as tracking branch option to revert to unchecked as before, rather than there being an issue with how the option is displayed.

I've pushed a new commit that reverts the changes about default state of that option.
