A curator testing DeltaSignal on beta couldn't tell what the result table's Influence column meant, nor quite what the others meant. This replaces #765 after its review.

The change

  • Clearer headers: Entity, Activity (× normal), Change vs baseline, Influence. The headers get role="columnheader", and the data cells role="cell".

  • A note above the table, "What do these columns mean?". It opens in place, so it works on touch screens. It defines:

    • Activity: the predicted steady-state activity on the input's scale: 1× is normal, 0 is none, and higher is more active (node_activities × 100). Every node the site parses has a baseline of 0.01, so 1× is each node's normal.
    • Change: activity minus the entity's own baseline, on the same scale. A fall can reach −1 and a rise +99, so large rises sort above every fall. It's what the diagram's colours show.
    • Influence: how strongly the reactions the entity feeds (as a substrate, catalyst, activator or inhibitor) respond to a small change in it, at the predicted state. It ranks direct, local effect, not effect on the whole pathway, and has no unit. An entity that feeds no reaction scores 0. This is Σ|∂F/∂input| over the reactions the node is an input to, per DeltaSignal's compute_influence_scores.

The note also says that rows are sorted by the size of the change, and that an entity made of several logic nodes shows their average activity and change and their largest influence.

Changed from #765: #765 described Influence as covering the reactions an entity "takes part in", which includes those that produce it, and as how much it matters "to the result". Neither is what the score computes.

Text, roles and style only. The pre-push checks passed.

A curator could not tell what Influence, or the other columns, meant.
The table's headers now say what each number is (activity × normal,
change vs baseline), and a short "What do these columns mean?" note,
opened in place, defines each column in plain words from DeltaSignal's
own API documentation, and says how the rows are sorted and grouped.

Influence counts only the reactions an entity feeds (substrate,
catalyst, activator, inhibitor), at the predicted state: a direct,
local effect, not its effect on the whole pathway; one that feeds no
reaction scores 0. Change is a difference on the × scale, so a fall
reaches -1 and a rise +99, and large rises sort above every fall. Data
cells get role="cell" beside the headers' columnheader.

Replaced by the next PR, whose Influence definition covers every path DeltaSignal counts.
