We're ready for an 8.0.0 release as this repository is migrating to Spago 1.0; there are breaking changes currently on main, plus a number of PRs sitting there waiting to merge, so this PR retains the original contributor commits, fixes #16, and brings in the various open PRs that are safe to merge.
