Gate the preset cooling setpoints on the zone's own cooling_allowed - #940
An Adam records per zone whether cooling may run there, in location/actuator_functionalities/thermostat_functionality/cooling_allowed. The library never read it, so on a gateway with cooling every zone with its own preset rule got a heating and a cooling setpoint for each preset. In the adam_heatpump_cooling test data, 6 of the 10 zones that carry presets have cooling_allowed set to false.
This follows up a question bouwew raised in plugwise-beta#1169. The five cooling preset numbers appear on zones where cooling is switched off.
Changes
_cooling_allowed() reads a zone's cooling_allowed. A zone that carries no such element counts as allowed, so the gateway-wide capability decides.
_preset_temperatures() takes the location id, and writes the heating and cooling setpoints only where the gateway has cooling and the zone allows it. Elsewhere it writes the single heating setpoint, as it already did for a gateway without cooling.
Effect on existing installs
On a gateway with cooling, a zone that does not allow cooling loses the setpoint_high and setpoint_low of each preset and carries a plain setpoint. In Home Assistant that removes the cooling preset numbers for that zone.
Gateway behaviour
Measured on the test data, not on hardware:
adam_heatpump_cooling carries cooling_allowed on all 10 zones, 4 set to true.
The value does not follow the hardware. Eight of those zones carry the same two device classes, valve_actuator and zone_thermostat. Across those eight it is true for three zones and false for five.
anna_heatpump_cooling, anna_heatpump_heating and anna_v4 contain no cooling_allowed element. They count as allowed and keep their current behaviour.
Tests
adam_heatpump_cooling now expects a single setpoint for the six zones that do not allow cooling, and its entity count drops from 793 to 763. Every rewritten value was checked against the heating setpoint in that zone's own preset rule.
New assertions check that a zone which may not cool carries the heating setpoint and no setpoint_high.
The suite passes, coverage stays at 100%, and mypy, ruff and pylint are clean.
Open question
I cannot test this. My Adam drives a gas boiler, so cooling_present is false and every zone here takes the heating path. The change rests on the adam_heatpump_cooling test data alone.
Summary by CodeRabbit
Bug Fixes
Preset temperatures now reflect each climate zone’s cooling capability: zones that cannot cool show a heating setpoint only, while zones that can cool retain heating and cooling setpoints.
Zones that cannot cool now report heating mode when no schedule is selected.
Setting a heating setpoint in a non-cooling zone no longer fails because its value exceeds a stored cooling setpoint.
Updated heat-pump preset temperatures across six climate zones.
A zone's presets carry the heating and cooling setpoints only where the
gateway has cooling and the zone's own thermostat_functionality allows
it. Where a zone carries no cooling_allowed, cooling stays allowed and
the gateway-wide capability decides alone.
In adam_heatpump_cooling six of the ten zones holding presets now carry
a single setpoint.
Preset generation and setpoint validation now use zone-specific cooling eligibility. Updated fixture data and tests cover heating-only preset output and climate mode.

Summary
Apply zone cooling eligibility plugwise/helper.py, plugwise/data.py, plugwise/smile.py, CHANGELOG.md
Climate data includes cooling setpoints only when cooling is present and allowed for the location. Without a selected schedule, a zone that cannot cool reports heating mode. Heating-versus-cooling validation applies only when the location may cool.
Update heating-only fixtures and tests fixtures/adam_heatpump_cooling/data.json, tests/data/adam/adam_heatpump_cooling.json, tests/test_adam.py
Fixture presets use a single setpoint for the affected zones. The test expects 763 entities and checks heating-only output and a heating-setpoint write when the stored cooling setpoint is higher.
Zones that cannot cool now show only a heating preset setpoint and accept heating values above the stored cooling value. This matches the stated intent and has test coverage. One narrow edge case remains: if cooling is later enabled for such a zone, an inverted preset pair could appear. Merging is reasonable with that awareness.

- A preset write is refused only where the zone may cool, so a heating
setpoint above the stored cooling setpoint is accepted in a zone that
may not cool.
- A zone that may not cool reports heating as its climate mode when no
schedule is selected, rather than the gateway's cool or heat_cool mode.
_climate_data decides once whether a zone cools and passes that to
_preset_temperatures, which no longer takes a location ID.

⚠️Unverified finding
Verification ran but could not confirm this finding. It is shown for review, not as a verified issue.
Refresh preset entities when cooling eligibility changes.
If cooling is enabled for an existing zone, this adds setpoint_high on the next update. Plugwise beta creates number entities only for new device IDs, so the cooling preset controls do not appear until the integration is reloaded. Update entity discovery to handle eligibility changes. Done. The new Ongoing section has an entry per change. A zone shows the cooling setpoint of a preset only where the gateway has cooling and the zone is allowed to cool. A heating setpoint above the stored cooling setpoint is no longer refused in a zone that may not cool.
