Service templates previously described their GPU needs by card count (requiredResources with { min, recommended, unit: "count" }). A card count says nothing about memory, so a one-GPU requirement could be scheduled onto a card too small to load the model — the failure only surfaced at launch, after payment. This PR replaces that model with a VRAM-based recommendedResources schema: GPU demand is declared as a total VRAM figure plus the explicit tensor-parallel/placement layouts the model actually supports, so every client (node, SDK, dashboard) can filter environments by real memory and offer only widths that work.
This is a deliberate, non-backward-compatible schema change. The old requiredResources / min / unit: "count" shape no longer parses; the template loader warns and skips any template still using it, rather than silently mis-scheduling it. A gpuCountEnv linkage lets a template pin the exact GPU width to a user-settable env var, with the schema enforcing that the variable's regex and the declared layouts agree.
Replaced requiredResources with recommendedResources; removed min and the GPU unit: "count" form.
New GpuLayout type and GpuLayoutSchema: gpuCount (integer 1–64) with optional vramPerGpu (GB/card). A one-GPU layout uses the headline recommended and must omitvramPerGpu; a multi-GPU layout must state it.
GPU requirement now carries total VRAM (recommended, decimal GB) + a mandatory, non-empty layouts array (≤ 8 entries, strictly ascending by gpuCount). Each layout's gpuCount × vramPerGpu must be ≥ the recommended total.
Duplicate-resource rejection across recommendedResources entries.
gpuCountEnv forced-width linkage: must reference a declared userConfigurableEnvVars key, that key's validation regex must accept every declared layout width, and it must not collide with an operator-fixed envVars key (which clients never see).
Duplicate userConfigurableEnvVars.key rejection (a06716ff): the gpuCountEnv check resolves its key with .find(), so with duplicate keys only the first validation regex was ever checked against the layouts and a second, contradictory regex slipped through. Duplicates now raise an issue pointing at the later occurrence, guaranteeing one authoritative regex per linked variable.
Tests
serviceSchemas.test.ts, templateLoader.test.ts, services.test.ts (integration): coverage for the new layout/VRAM rules, gpuCountEnv linkage, and duplicate-key rejection (both declaration orders + the regex-bypass case).

Walkthrough
The PR documents repository setup and architecture. It also replaces required service-template resources with advisory recommendations and adds schema validation for resource shapes, GPU layouts, and configurable GPU counts.
Changes: Service Template Resource Recommendations
The service-template contract and schema define advisory CPU, RAM, disk, and GPU recommendations. GPU layouts have count and VRAM constraints. Validation checks resource identifiers and GPU-count environment variables. Tests and documentation cover the updated contract.
The loader test verifies that templates using the retired requiredResources or min shape are skipped with a warning, while a template using recommendedResources loads.

This PR changes template resource validation and adds an operator guide. The template changes look sound, but several AGENTS.md statements are wrong: the Node version, the config-file requirement, the logs script, the no-metadata-database behavior and IPFS storage support. Correct them before merge, because they can mislead operators; no runtime behavior is affected.

Align the documented Node version with the repository pins.

Document the actual npm run logs behavior.
npm run logs runs scripts/logs.sh, which performs one HTTP request to /logs and pipes the response to jq; it does not tail local log files. The script defaults to port 8000, while the repository config.json uses HTTP port 8001. Document the required URL and arguments, or fix the script. (raw.githubusercontent.com)

Describe configuration as a required file plus environment overrides.
Environment variables are not an alternative to the JSON file. buildMergedConfig() always calls loadConfigFromFile() and then merges mapped environment overrides. A deployment with only environment variables fails when the configuration file is absent. (raw.githubusercontent.com)

Correct the no-metadata-database capability description.
Without a metadata database, the SQLite core still supports C2D, nonce, and authentication services. The statement that only the SQLite nonce database is available is incorrect and also conflicts with the database description later in this file. (raw.githubusercontent.com)

Replace the unsupported IPFS backend.
The implemented persistent-storage backends are localfs and s3. The configuration schema and exports do not provide an IPFS backend. Documenting IPFS as supported can lead operators to choose a backend that the node cannot create. (raw.githubusercontent.com)
