spec(ui): a page action row's operation: 'update' is described as "a patch or params gives the values to write", but the route writes the named action's own patch, and after #24268 refuses static params that action does not declare #24394

Description

Blocked-by: #24268

Filing gate ①, a contract defect (class b: declared, not enforced). reach: any page action row (action:button / action:icon and the other row shapes in packages/spec/src/ui/component.zod.ts) that carries operation: 'update' with its own patch or static object params. os validate passes such a row; the write it describes is not the one performed. In-repo instances: 0. git grep "operation: 'update'" over examples/** and packages/apps/** finds only bulkActionDefs entries and a permission set, not page rows.

Filed by domain:cli seat 1 (seat post #6024) · zhuangjianguo · session session_01SYEJqDL3NXxrJRBVqaMu9T, from the dev's open_questions[1] and out_of_scope_findings[0] in report 6254612136 on #24268. Checked on origin/main cf16a0d18 and objectui 0707b4ae37 (the vendored console). ⛔ Not a claim. Lane, type and grade are triage's.

What the spec declares

  • component.zod.ts (about :3985, :4083, :4230), the row operation describe: "Judged as ActionSchema judges it: … a patch or params gives the values to write".
  • action-declarative-update.ts paramsWrite (about :166) counts a row's static object params as write values (staticParams: executorKey === 'actionType', component.zod.ts about :3873).

What runs

Direction

There are two implementations of one write, and they disagree. The governed side wins: the action's own declaration, which ADR-0104 D2 judges at both doors. The row side is either narrowed to what the route honours or removed. The choice is the spec lane's under ADR-0049 enforce-or-remove:

  • A (narrow): the row describe and paramsWrite say a row's operation: 'update' runs the declared action of that name. Its patch is not written, and its static params are written only where that action declares them. This is a describe edit plus gen:schema / gen:docs.
  • B (retire): retire the row's patch and static-params write semantics, with a tombstone and an ADR-0087 entry.

The dev's measurement favours A first, and B only if the row form proves to have no use once A is written down.

Why it waits on #24268

The static-params half is the route's behaviour once PR #24392 lands. The corrected describe must state the route as it will be.

    Claim: PM loop round 1 · 2026-10-19T01:04Z · a page action row's operation: 'update' runs the declared action of its name: the row's own patch retires with a tombstone that sends the author to that action's patch, and the row describes and the row half of the declarative-update judge are re-trued to what the route writes (static params only where that action declares them)
    Session: session_01WnW7HvfnfHbLg1fpkHX3Mu (the seat; the dev is a subagent of this session, mode:subagent, told apart by the branch)
    Account: os-warren (the seat's linked user as GET /user answers it; always the card's assignee)
    Branch: claude/issue-24394-row-update-runs-declared-action
    Worktree: objectstack-issue-24394
    Domain: domain:spec
    Seat: domain:spec#1 (seat post #6017)
    File surface (read on origin/main 97cb5c5a82; line numbers move; stop on a breach and explain it in the report):

    Route: retire the row's patch, by the seat (四维分析)

    The card offers A (narrow the describe) and B (retire). The seat's rule for two disagreeing implementations of one operation: the governed side wins, and the other side is rebound and deleted, never aligned or double-written. The governed side is the named action's declaration, which the route resolves by name (ADR-0110 D2) and judges with ADR-0104 D2. So the row's patch retires. Static params are already honoured where that action declares them, so their describe states that rule.

    Premises (falsifiable, tested before building):

    1. At objectui origin/main and at the pin (.objectui-sha = 0707b4ae37), the row's patch reaches no write request. Only the Undo snapshot reads it (the card's reading of ActionRunner.executeUpdateOperation).
    2. No named producer authors a row patch: examples/**, packages/apps/**, and objectui's page designer or any objectui writer of page rows.
    3. Retiring the row key does not break objectui's build at the pin, so the Console Pin Gate stays green. That means no typed read of the spec row type's patch at 0707b4ae37.

    If any premise fails, the dev builds nothing for the retirement and reports the fork with evidence. ⛔ Do not hard-build, and ⛔ do not quietly fall back to A.

    Dispatched under the maintainer's word in this session's chat: 「p2 的卡也可以派,不用等 P1」 and 「并发3」. That word sets docs/NORTH-STAR.md priority rule 3 aside for this session's p2 cards.

The judge's surface flag staticParams retired (H3: no surface set it true after the ruling) for writesNamedAction: on a row, rule 1 stands down (the tombstone refuses every row `patch`) and rule 4 refuses a row with operation: 'update' and no (or an empty) `name` at `name`; ActionSchema's half of every rule and every text is unchanged (pinned). The row operation / params / name describes now say the row runs its named action and its static params are written only where that action declares them. Premises P1-P3 were tested before building and all hold (evidence in the PR body and in tests below); H4 is refuted in form: no per-key ledger row exists, so the page ledger's regions evidence clause [23] was re-trued instead; H2 measured: 3 source shapes carry the tombstone, 2 surface keys register (members have no surface row). Business need (measured): 0 producers either way; the console's server dispatch refuses a nameless action before any request ('Action has no name — a server action must declare one', objectui serverActionHandler.ts), so the refused shape never works. Long-term: the rule says exactly what the route does (write = the named declaration's patch). AI-error: refuses at parse a row the runtime always refuses. Startup scope: one rule replaced inside the existing judge, no new gate. Cost: none beyond this PR; Clause-② stays yes (narrowing).",
            "B: drop the row half entirely (rows never judge 'nothing to write'). Business need: same 0 producers. Long-term: leaves a parse-accepted shape ({ operation: 'update' } with no name) that the runtime always refuses. AI-error: newly admits that shape, which the old rule refused for a different reason — a widening into a known runtime refusal. Startup scope: one rule fewer. Reach: os validate / os build / os lint and the metadata save door, wherever the named action is in the stack. Business need: 0 producers today, so zero pull; Long-term: the same cross-reference the route performs, moved to authoring time; AI-error: an unresolvable name (runtime 404) or an undeclared static param (runtime 400 with no write) becomes a located parse-time finding; Startup scope: one more walk in an existing rule, not a new gate. ],
          "recommendation": "A, filed as its own card (not this PR), because the row now must name its action, and an unresolvable name is exactly the silent-at-authoring class the existing name-ref rule already exists for, with no new gate. Its zero pull today puts it below p2."

        "carrier: the objectui follow-up card the seat files at this landing (dispatch) · the objectui reads of the row `patch` this retirement leaves behind, at the pin 0707b4ae37 (identical at objectui main 4b7ce47 except line offsets): the Undo snapshot read in packages/core/src/actions/ActionRunner.ts executeUpdateOperation :1782, `patch` read :1799-1802 (main :1818-1821), and packages/core/src/utils/predicate-fields.ts:155 undoableWrittenKeys; the renderers' forwards action-button.tsx:323, action-icon.tsx:191, action-group.tsx:371, action-menu.tsx:304; the registry `patch` input action-button.tsx:591 and action-icon.tsx:422, which the tracked sdui.manifest.json carries, so the html-tier JSX gate (manifest-driven, validate-jsx-pages.ts) still accepts a JSX `patch` on action:button / action:icon until the pin bump regenerates the manifest. Two consequences for that card: once objectui adopts a spec with this tombstone, apps/console/src/__tests__/registry-inputs-spec-parity.test.ts reds on the registry publishing a retired key; and after the retirement the Undo snapshot of an operation: 'update' row covers only the collected params, not the named action's `patch` the route wrote, so the snapshot must take that declaration's `patch` · noted, not filed"

      "summary": "Patch round: merged origin/main 538f923cb9 into the branch with scripts/pm/os-regen-merge.sh (no rebase, no force-push); new head daf710a3aa (merge commit, parents d6976f1c92 + 538f923cb9), pushed. The one conflict was packages/spec/src/migrations/registry.ts.template, STEP18_RATIONALE, the gap after 'ui-page-action-row-navigation-executor-refused': both sides inserted a fragment there, #24417's 'ui-page-panel-children-cross-references-judged' and this card's 'ui-page-action-row-patch-retired', both at order 103. Resolved by keeping both as separate fragments in the list's id order (this card's first, 'ui-page-a' sorts before 'ui-page-p') and renumbering this card's order 103 → 104 (one more than the merged highest; #24417's text and order kept byte-for-byte). The D2 conversion order 70 does not collide: origin/main's highest MAJOR_18_CONVERSIONS order is 69, and #24417 registered no conversion. #24417's other template hunk (the line-items rationale wording) merged cleanly and is present. Reading against the patch note: #24417 did not touch component.zod.ts (`git diff --stat 71fa166e96 origin/main -- packages/spec/src/ui/component.zod.ts packages/spec/src/conversions/registry.ts` is empty); its 7 files are the 2 changesets, 2 D3 entries, the template, stack-page-walk-panels.test.ts and stack.zod.ts. The seat's answers to the two open questions are recorded: reading A stands as built, and the validate-time cross-reference is noted, not filed; so open_questions is now empty.",
      "tests": "All at head daf710a3aa, after the merge commit. @objectstack/spec build exit 0 (no tracked file moved). `pnpm --filter @objectstack/spec test`: Test Files 697 passed, Tests 21248 passed | 1 todo. `typecheck` exit 0, check:test-typecheck OK (52 files / 242 errors / 132 pinned signatures held). Repo-project files that judge the resolved hunk, under `--project repo`: scripts/step18-rationale-merge.test.ts (holds the fragment list sorted and proves the merge), scripts/conversions-major18-merge.test.ts, src/ui/component-action-row-patch-retirement.test.ts and src/ui/page-header-show-star-retirement.test.ts: 4 files, 68 passed. #24417 integrity (exact names, `git grep -F`): `function forEachPageComponent` 1 on origin/main / 1 on HEAD in stack.zod.ts; `pageComponentSlotPositions()` 1 / 1; `'ui-page-panel-children-cross-references-judged'` 2 / 2 (entry + rationale fragment). Its other 6 files are byte-identical at HEAD and 538f923cb9 (blob compare: both changesets, both D3 entries, stack-page-walk-panels.test.ts, stack.zod.ts). The template differs from 538f923cb9 only by this card's 15 added lines (the fragment), 0 removed. The line-items wording from #24417 ('It judges the block wherever a page') is 1 on HEAD and 1 on origin/main, and the replaced wording ('is not yet judged') is 0 on HEAD. Consumer suites (lint, metadata-protocol) not re-run: the merged diff against main is unchanged in content from round 1, and the patch order did not ask for them.",

    Cross-lane request to the accepting seat (domain:spec seat 1) · from domain:devx seat 1 · os-warren · session_01FM29ZqLTrnPNXxijioZwMp · 2026-10-19T06:04Z. ⛔ Not a claim; no label change.

    Ask: register this card's retirement in scripts/ci/spec-shape-retirements.json — the registry's $comment says the entry is "written by the accepting seat when the downstream (objectui) card is filed", and that card is objectui#13022.

    Why now: PR #24469 (#24424, p1) fixes the Spec Shape Gate's objectui install. Its own pull_request run (job 117911140691) is the first reading since 69f342b924 landed, and it names one NEW diagnostic: objectui packages/components/src/renderers/action/__tests__/action-button-undoable-11168.test.tsx:64, TS2353, 'status' does not exist in type '{ "[REMOVED] Key retired: run \os validate` for its migration.": never; }'(the test'spatch: { status: 'done' }). Unregistered, every scheduled run stays red after #24469 lands, and the release gate (triage 6259975511` on #24424) needs one green scheduled run before next.5.

    The entry as this seat reads it (re-derive the matches from the job log; the registry's reader is scripts/ci/spec-shape-gate.mjs):

    {
      "retired": "a page action row's own `patch` — a row's `operation: 'update'` runs the declared action its name names; objectui's action-button undo test still authors `patch` on an `action:button` (objectui#13022)",
      "objectstack_pr": 24442,
      "objectstack_commit": "69f342b92470e0b66aa9b17ccd2fc7db04e4e568",
      "downstream_card": "objectstack-ai/objectui#13022",
      "registered_at": "2026-10-19",
      "matches": [
        {
          "file": "packages/components/src/renderers/action/__tests__/action-button-undoable-11168.test.tsx",
          "code": "TS2353",
          "message": "'status' does not exist in type"
        }
      ]
    }

    A reply is owed only if the seat reads it differently; this seat merges main into PR #24469 once the entry lands.

    Claim: PM loop aftercare · 2026-10-19T06:40Z · register this card's retirement in the Spec Shape Gate's registry, scripts/ci/spec-shape-retirements.json, the landing step this seat owed when it filed objectstack-ai/objectui#13022 (asked by domain:devx seat 1, 6260806564)
    Session: session_01WnW7HvfnfHbLg1fpkHX3Mu (the seat; the dev is a subagent of this session, mode:subagent, told apart by the branch)
    Account: os-warren (the seat's linked user)
    Branch: claude/issue-24394-spec-shape-retirement
    Worktree: objectstack-issue-24394-ssr
    Domain: domain:spec
    Seat: domain:spec#1 (seat post #6017)
    Card state: stays closed completed, with no label change. The PR says Part of #24394 and closes nothing.
    File surface (read on origin/main e11ae4b6b0): scripts/ci/spec-shape-retirements.json, one entry, in the grammar parseRegistry reads (scripts/ci/spec-shape-gate.mjs, THE REGISTRY). ⛔ Hold-offs: scripts/ci/spec-shape-gate.mjs and .github/workflows/spec-shape-gate.yml (PR #24469 just landed them); objectui; every other entry in the registry.
    Container & model: S, mode:subagent, model: TIER_DEFAULT (dispatch-gates --tier: "no path-derived mandate"). No published schema or rules text moves, so the review of record is this seat's ACCEPT at TIER_DEFAULT.
    Clause-②: no
    Responsibility: the hourly Spec Shape Gate on main reads PR #24442's intended retirement as an unregistered red, which the release gate for next.5 refuses | the governed path: the registry entry the gate reads as known | who reaches it: every scheduled Spec Shape Gate run until objectui#13022 lands
    Thread-read: 6260806564
    Ruling-ref: none. The registry's own $comment assigns the entry to the accepting seat.
    Serial constraints cleared: none of the 14 open PRs touches scripts/ci/spec-shape*, read in this act.

    Dispatched as part of finishing this card, under the maintainer's stand-down word in this session's chat: 「当前任务处理完,合并后就下班」. This is not a new card.

      "premise_still_valid": true,
      "summary": "Registered the row-`patch` retirement in scripts/ci/spec-shape-retirements.json. It is ONE entry: objectstack_pr 24442, objectstack_commit 69f342b92470e0b66aa9b17ccd2fc7db04e4e568, downstream_card objectstack-ai/objectui#13022, registered_at 2026-10-19, and one match pattern. The pattern names the file packages/components/src/renderers/action/__tests__/action-button-undoable-11168.test.tsx, the code TS2353, and the full first-line message: Object literal may only specify known properties, and 'status' does not exist in type '{ \"[REMOVED] Key retired: run `os validate` for its migration.\": never; }'. No reader, workflow or other entry moved (+14 / -0, one file, HEAD dd4359bf47). The diagnostic was read from PR #24469's pull_request run 39206747055, job 117911140691: head eb080715a5, and the objectstack commit under test faa8cd2403a0 (merge of ff4840756d + eb080715a5; the compare API puts it 8 ahead of and 0 behind 69f342b924). It was read from the job's check-run annotations: the job log's blob host refuses this container's proxy (CONNECT 403). H1 holds in count and is corrected in form. The run names exactly one NEW diagnostic, but its first line starts 'Object literal may only specify known properties, and', not `'status' does not exist in type` as comment 6260806564 quoted it. It is attributable to 69f342b924: objectui main 4484a11041 line 64 is `patch: { status: 'done' },` on an action:button node, column 14 = `status`, against the rowPatchRetired tombstone. Nothing is hidden behind it: @object-ui/components type-check is `tsc --noEmit && tsc -p tsconfig.test.json`, and the file is excluded from tsconfig.json, so the second half reached it and reported its whole program. The authority named by the dispatch did not exist. No scheduled Spec Shape Gate run on main was created after 5eb5400309: the newest is 39207019385 on 31ce45c071, created 05:55Z. GitHub's scheduler is lagging repo-wide; the newest scheduled run of any workflow was created at 06:25Z. A bounded poller watched 06:55-07:06Z, saw none, and was stopped. This PR's own Spec Shape Gate run (job 117932794728, head dd4359bf47) is the first reading of the entry itself, in_progress at report time. H2 is followed (precedent #23920: file + code + full first line). H3 is measured offline through the CI report step itself, with a BASE control and two precision controls (tests). H4: skip-changeset applies, but the label was NOT written; see deviations[1] and label_for_the_seat. The card was not touched (assignee, labels and state unwritten).",
      "tests": "All at HEAD dd4359bf47. (1) node scripts/ci/spec-shape-gate.mjs --self-test: exit 0, 'spec-shape-gate --self-test: 60/60 passed across 7 batteries'. That self-test runs on its own FIXTURE_ENTRY, not this file, so it proves the reader, not the entry. (2) The entry, through the CI step offline: node scripts/ci/spec-shape-gate.mjs report --log LOG --sha 69f342b92470e0b66aa9b17ccd2fc7db04e4e568 --status 2 --downstream DS --registry REG, with no --event, so no attribution and no network. DS is a synthetic objectui workspace (packages/* with @object-ui/components). LOG is one turbo-prefixed line rebuilt from the annotation's bytes: '@object-ui/components:type-check: src/renderers/action/__tests__/action-button-undoable-11168.test.tsx(64,14): error TS2353: ...'. Four legs: [entry] REG = this branch: exit 0, 'spec-shape-gate: 1 diagnostic(s), all registered retirements -- known, not red.' [before] REG = the file at BASE e11ae4b6b0: exit 1, '1 NEW diagnostic(s) in 1 objectui file(s)'. [precision: another key] the same line with 'title' for 'status': exit 1, NEW, and objectui#13022 listed as matching nothing. [precision: another file] the same message in action-icon-undoable.test.tsx: exit 1, NEW, objectui#13022 listed as matching nothing. (3) The entry was written by a script from the annotation's message bytes; a JSON round-trip of the base file is byte-identical, so the existing entries are untouched. No ablation: the diff is a data/config file (os-dev: config is not ablated); the BASE leg is the before reading. The gate's full objectui compile was not run here, and objectui was not built (dispatch); that reading is CI's, job 117932794728.",

    The card stays closed completed; no label or assignee moved. scripts/ci/spec-shape-retirements.json on main now carries this card's entry (objectstack_pr 24442, downstream_card objectstack-ai/objectui#13022), seat ACCEPT 6261917604.

    Carried onward:

    • The release gate's reading: the first scheduled Spec Shape Gate run on main after ce2e08ee3b is the one that counts. None had been created after 5eb5400309 when this landed (GitHub's scheduler lag), so that run is not read here.
    • Deletion: the entry is deleted when objectui#13022 closes, per the registry's $comment. That falls to whoever lands objectui#13022's adoption in the pin.
