The compiler commands now use tsrs for type checks, consumer fixture compilation, and cleanup. This removes duplicate type checks and the direct typescript and @typescript/native-preview dependencies.

scripts/tsrs.js selects native binaries on Apple Silicon and Linux x64 or arm64. It uses @ts-rs/wasm on other platforms, including Windows and Intel macOS.

The performance measurements use Apple M4 Max, macOS 26.2 (arm64), and Node.js 24.22.0. Each command ran 50 times after five warmup runs. The runs used random order, fresh processes, warm filesystem caches, and the same project configuration with incremental: false. Timings include shell and compiler startup and exclude vp startup.

The baselines use typescript@7.0.2 and @typescript/native-preview@7.0.0-dev.20260421.2. Both tsrs packages use 0.15.0-ts7.1.0-dev.20260929. These compiler versions target different TypeScript revisions.

Command Median time
tsc --noEmit 132.3 ms
tsgo --noEmit 129.9 ms
Previous tsc --noEmit && tsgo --noEmit 259.6 ms
node scripts/tsrs.js --noEmit (native) 73.6 ms
node scripts/tsrs.js --noEmit (WebAssembly fallback) 342.7 ms

The native script takes 71.6% less time than the previous combined command, a 3.53× speedup. The WebAssembly measurement forces the fallback on the same Mac. That path is slower and provides support for platforms without native binaries.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Chores
    • Updated the project’s TypeScript checking, test compilation, fixture testing, and cleanup commands to use the revised compiler tooling.
    • Compiler selection now varies by development platform, and the fixture test command has been renamed to reflect the updated tooling.
    • Updated development dependencies to support these changes.

📝 Walkthrough

The TypeScript task scripts now use scripts/tsrs.mjs. The launcher selects a compiler package based on platform and architecture. Development dependencies replace TypeScript and its native preview package with pinned tsrs and @ts-rs/wasm packages.
