JSON Pointer parsing drops empty-key segments, so diff/patch can update a neighboring field. Preserve empty tokens and reject unsupported root/malformed pointers explicitly.
Validate canonical array indices and bounds before mutation. Array add now inserts instead of overwriting; '-' appends. Add TypeScript overloads for the existing top-level array support and regression coverage for empty keys, insertion, invalid indices, and array declarations. Existing prototype-pollution defenses remain covered.
Validation: local repository lint and git diff --check pass. Runtime and TypeScript declaration tests pass in the Node.js 22/24 CI matrix. CodeQL checks also pass.
