Summary

• Bump the extension version from 0.31.1 to 0.31.2 in package.json and both root version fields in package-lock.json.
• Add user-facing release notes since the latest stable release, 0.31.1, published on June 9, 2026.
• Merge the latest main (731f120), including the project JDK synchronization fix in fix: synchronize project JDK runtime selection #1777.
• Preserve dependency metadata and all previous changelog entries.

Release notes

• Fix project JDK selection and runtime inventory synchronization in Project Settings, and add a Refresh JDKs action (fix: synchronize project JDK runtime selection #1777).
• Fix tooling JDK requirements and guidance for Language Support for Java 1.57 while preserving support for older project JDKs (fix: tooling JDK requirements and runtime selection for redhat.java 1.57 #1768).
• Fix runtime status and project inventory reporting, and stop automatically opening the Java Runtime view at startup (fix: tooling JDK requirements and runtime selection for redhat.java 1.57 #1768).
• Restore TLS certificate validation for HTTPS requests (fix: restore TLS certificate validation #1717).

Version choice

This is a patch release: the user-facing changes are fixes, not new capabilities. The release baseline is tag 0.31.1 (e9dcd4b); the reviewed upstream main is 731f120. CI, dependency maintenance, test infrastructure, and dead-code cleanup are excluded from the changelog. Java 27 test coverage is not a claim of complete Java 27 support.

Validation

• npm test: all 79 tests passed on the updated release branch.
• npm run build -- --stats=errors-warnings: production build passed; existing Sass deprecation and bundle-size warnings remain.
• git -c core.whitespace=cr-at-eol diff --check: passed.
• Verified that the manifest and both root lockfile versions are 0.31.2, dependency metadata is unchanged from main, previous changelog entries are preserved, and the new release notes include fix: synchronize project JDK runtime selection #1777.
