A failed-install launch skipped its initial update check, but had already armed the hourly reminder. Dismissing the failure notice therefore allowed an overdue reminder to reappear an hour later, contrary to the updater contract.
Arm the reminder only after the post-install marker is accepted. Both an explicit install failure and an unconfirmed target version leave that launch quiet; manual Check now still works. Clarify the spec's automatic/manual distinction.
Validation: both hourly regression cases fail before the fix and pass after it. All 74 updater tests, standalone TypeScript, spec lint, Markdown lint, and diff checks pass.
