test(resolver): cover user value validation and dependency guards - #1618
Add resolver input-validation and dependency-scope tests: 275 added lines across two test files, zero product changes.
Why
Coverage rose from 37.5% to 50.8% before the final lint-only restructuring. Tests cover integer boundaries, malformed regex/enum/type values, pattern-error precedence, scope rejection, and dependency-edge direction. Enum-versus-type error precedence remains an optional coverage gap noted by Greptile.
Validation
Formatting and CI-parity lint passed on the committed diff.
go test -race -count=3 ./pkg/options/resolver/ passed.
Final-head GitHub CI passed after retrying one Windows Podman-startup timeout.
Broad coverage discovery ran and failed untouched cancellation tests in agent/delivery, driver/docker, and driver/microsandbox.
Mutation reasoning, not executed: moving pattern validation after enum/type, ignoring ValidationMessage, removing scope guards, or reversing dependency edges would fail the corresponding assertions. Swapping enum and type alone is not detected.
CodeRabbit CLI
Fresh committed review completed with zero findings on both files. GitHub review completed on 7fa5c30 with no actionable findings. Greptile: 4/5 on the final head.
Auto-merge
Scope eligible: test-only, two files, 275 lines. Merge remains blocked by Entire Gates: no active assessed Change for the current comparison.
Type of change
Test coverage only; no behavior change. Issue: none.
AI assistance
AI authored the tests; coordinator reviewed the complete diff against current resolver code. Validation was executed by the worker; mutation checking used reasoning, not executed mutations.
Testing
Unit tests added. No new integration test needed: product behavior is unchanged; existing GitHub integration matrix passes.
Checklist
Final-diff lint and package race tests pass.
GitHub CI and CLA pass; commits verified.
No secrets or personal paths added.
Entire Gates passes (currently unassessed).
CodeRabbit docstring warning is not actionable: descriptive test names follow the repository's self-documenting test policy.
No actionable comments were generated in the recent review. 🎉

📝 Walkthrough
The PR adds resolver tests for dependency scope and graph behavior, and for validation of user values against patterns, enums, and supported types.
Tests cover global and local dependency combinations, skipped undefined references, incompatible graphs, preservation of the minimum int64 value, and graph edge direction.
The added tests present no identified merge-blocking issue; the change is ready to merge after the required checks complete.

Needs human: final head 7fa5c30 has green CI (including successful Windows Podman-startup retry), verified signatures, CodeRabbit CLI 0 findings, Greptile 4/5, and zero unresolved threads. GitHub CodeRabbit is rate-limited (no completed review; nominal success is not a pass). Entire Gates remains in progress with stale "PR #1618 is a draft" output although the PR is ready. Leaving ready/unmerged until both gates genuinely pass.
Current-head update: CodeRabbit full review completed for 7fa5c30 with no actionable findings; Greptile 4/5, GitHub Actions green, signatures verified, zero unresolved threads. CodeRabbit docstring warning conflicts with descriptive-test/self-documenting policy and requires no code change. Needs human: Entire Gates remains unassessed (no active assessed Change for current comparison). Leaving ready/unmerged; no bypass.
Needs human: Entire Gates remains in_progress and unassessed (no active assessed Change for this comparison) since 2026-10-20; all other CI and review gates passed, but I cannot merge until it is terminal.
