- Added `security_headers` middleware in `apps/server/src/security.rs` to enforce defense-in-depth via `X-Content-Type-Options`, `X-Frame-Options`, `X-XSS-Protection`, and `Strict-Transport-Security`. - Hooked up new security middleware inside `apps/server/src/main.rs`. - Logged new codebase constraints for Axum header casing inside `.jules/sentinel.md`. Closing: same decision as #249. Security headers such as HSTS and X-Frame-Options are handled at the reverse proxy level and are not wanted in-app for now (X-XSS-Protection is also deprecated). |
Understood. Acknowledging that this work is now obsolete as security headers are managed at the reverse proxy level. Stopping work on this task. |
π¨ Severity: MEDIUM (Security Enhancements)
π‘ Vulnerability: The Rust/Axum backend lacked common HTTP security headers, leaving it unnecessarily exposed to MIME sniffing, clickjacking, and inadequate HTTPS enforcement across all endpoints.
π― Impact: An attacker could potentially iframe the application to conduct clickjacking attacks or trick the browser into executing non-script files via MIME sniffing.
π§ Fix: Implemented a global
security_headersmiddleware inapps/server/src/security.rsthat appliesX-Content-Type-Options: nosniff,X-Frame-Options: DENY,X-XSS-Protection: 1; mode=block, andStrict-Transport-Securityheaders to all responses. The new middleware is injected early into the main app and worker routers.β Verification:
