problem

When reverting an instance snapshot on a Dell Powerflex 4.8.00 as primary storage a error message "Bad API Request" is shown.

There was a change in the PowerFlex API version 4.5:

The steps to reproduce the bug

create an instance snapshot on PowerFlex as primary storage
click "Reverte to Instance Snapshot"
Error message "Bad API Request" pops up

What to do about it?

Do you have more output for the actual call you made? or is "Bad API Request” all? Maybe some logging on the PowerFlex side?
Please note that most people (that might want to implement a fix) do not have access to a PowerFlex installation.

Unfortunately, I don't have any log files at the moment. It occurred during a short PoC. I'll try to get the logs from Dell directly.

Just got the logs and attached them to this issue. In the Events-export.json are the logs form Powerflex.

We've also got a short analysis form a Dell specialist:

the revert‑operation („overwriteVolumeContent“) fails, because an old flag (allowOnExtManagedVol) is used in the cloudstack code. This flag in no longer valid since PowerFlex‑Version 4.5.x. According to the message volumeClass should be used instead.

correct, new parameter volumeClass to be passed with overwriteVolumeContent call to revert to snapshot volume from PowerFlex 4.5 onwards.
