List-item parsing checks the first block container and its first child. It retains additional children in that container before subsequent block-group content. Parse fixtures cover numbered and unchecked checklist items beginning with <details>, including a numbered item with summary and body content. |

Explanation
Issue [
#3189] requires numbered and check-list items that start with<details>to parse without throwing.getListItemContentnow cuts after the complete firstblockContainerand preserves that block's children. The added parse tests cover the numbered item, check-list item, and details body. Markdown export escapes HTML-like text, and the parser accepts the escaped form. The added round-trip tests cover the required preservation of literal<details>text.Full details: Out of Scope Changes check
Explanation
The list-item change fixes the malformed structure from [
#3189]. The Markdown export and parser changes support the issue requirement that Markdown produced byblocksToMarkdownLossyloads again without losing literal HTML-like text. The related tests verify these changes. No unrelated change is demonstrated.

A rabbit checks the list with care,
And finds the <details> waiting there.
Pipes lose their slash and text stays clear,
Round-trip notes now test what’s here.
The list keeps children in their place,
Then hops along at its own pace.

When a list item's first block had children, like a parsed <details> toggle, the list item content split inside that block. The leftover block had children but no content, so parsing threw. Split after the whole first block and keep its children nested under the list item. Fixes TypeCellOS#3189
Markdown export wrote text like <details> as is, so loading the file back read it as HTML and dropped the text. Escape < where it would start a tag, comment or autolink, and accept \< in the parser. Refs TypeCellOS#3189
Text like \<details> exported as \\<details>, which the parser reads as a literal backslash followed by raw HTML, so the text was lost. Double the backslashes right before an escaped < so they load back unchanged. Refs TypeCellOS#3189

Summary
Fixes #3189.
tryParseMarkdownToBlocksno longer throws when a numbered or check list item starts with a<details>tag. Markdown export now escapes HTML-like text, so a list item whose text is<details>loads back with that text.Rationale
getListItemContentflattens the first parsed block into the list item and keeps the rest as children. It cut only the first block's content node out of the parsedblockGroup. When that block had children, like a parsed<details>toggle, the cut landed inside itsblockContainer. The leftover container had ablockGroupbut no block content, so parsing threwblockContainer must start with a block content node. The crash also hid a round-trip loss. Markdown export wrote text like
<details>unescaped, so the parser read it back as HTML and dropped the text.Changes
blockContainer, not only its content node.<details>body stays nested under the list item.<in text where it would start an HTML tag, comment or autolink, so<details>exports as\<details>. Backslashes right before an escaped<are doubled, so text like\<details>also loads back unchanged. A<before a space or digit, as in1 < 2, stays unescaped. Code spans and code blocks are unchanged.\<as a backslash escape in the Markdown parser, as CommonMark does.Impact
List items whose first block has no children parse the same as before, since the two cut positions match in that case. A list item starting with
<details>now becomes a list item with the summary as its text and the details body as its children. Exported Markdown changes only for text with<before a letter,/,!or?. No existing export snapshot changed.Testing
1. <details>,- [ ] <details>, and a numbered item holding a full<details>with a summary and body.<details>, for a paragraph with tag-like text, an HTML comment and1 < 2, and for a paragraph with backslashes before tag-like text. All three snapshots keep the original text.mainand pass with this change.@blocknote/coreunit tests (1,095) pass.pnpm lintreports the same output as onmain.Screenshots/Video
Not applicable; the change is in parsing.
