Problem:
The current country‑selection step during signup creates unnecessary friction. Users expect to search for their country, but the UI only provides a static dropdown. This forces users—especially those outside the US or the “main” countries—to manually scan the entire list. If their country isn’t included, they only discover this after checking every option. I personally ran into this.
Why it matters:
Slows down onboarding
Creates confusion for users whose countries aren’t listed
Breaks expectations, since most modern apps use searchable combo boxes for long lists
Increases the chance users think the app doesn’t support their region
Proposed solution:
Use a combo box (search + dropdown).
Users can type to filter the list
If their country isn’t found, show an “Other Countries” fallback option
This reduces friction and makes the experience more intuitive for international users
Expected outcome:
A smoother signup flow, especially for users outside the primary supported regions.
@dylan-dot-c you got it! Thanks for claiming this issue. Keep the schema in mind when changing the ui. If you need to make a schema change let me know.
